Rosières
(1005 inhabitants) is situated in " Ardèche méridionale
" at the periphery of the Monts of Ardèche Regional Natural
Park 480 feet up on the Beaume Valley. Two geological zones are meeting there :
- On one side, limestone with provençal vegetation (garrigues:
low, sparse plants as box-trees, oaks, lavander )
- On the other side sandstone; the foothills
of the Cevennes mountains.
In
the plains between the two zones, farmers grow vineyards, fruit-trees
and market-gardens.
The village profits a Mediterranean climate appreciated
at all times by writers, romancers, singers and other people looking
for loneliness.
Rosières is situated twenty kilometers
south from the town of Aubenas on the way to the town of Alès
and at a hundred kilometers from the cities of Avignon, Valence, Montpellier
and Mende.
